5 reasons to use a solicitor for legal works

April 21 2017

It is not uncommon to wonder whether using a solicitor is a good idea or not. Some people question whether it is absolutely necessary for one to be involved and others can be put off by the cost.

If you are thinking about using the services of one, here are five reasons why we believe using a legal professional is a good idea:

1. Legal expertise

Solicitors have spent a significant amount of time training as well as gaining practical work experience, making them highly knowledgeable specialists across a range of legal areas. As well as academic study and professional study, a trainee period at a firm means they are well equipped to provide the best possible service to their clients.

2. Legal experience

Another important aspect to remember is that as well as technical expertise, solicitors also have a wealth of legal experience to draw from due to their years in practice. From previous cases and work experience they will be able to analyse your particular situation expertly and identify the most effective way to deal with it.

3. Code of conduct

All solicitors have to work to a code of conduct which is set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The handbook stipulates the requirements and standards that solicitors are expected to achieve and observe. This means that solicitors have to work to benefit the clients they serve as well as public interest.

4. Insurance

All firms must have professional indemnity insurance in order to be able to practice.

5. Complaints service

In the unlikely event that a client is not satisfied with the service they received from a solicitor there is a dedicated body, the Legal Complaints Service, to deal with issues.
