You can save your marriage in January

January 22 2018

According to statistics and yearly reports, January is the month when more and more people file for divorce. It appears that the festive period places more stress on couples and people realise that they do not quite believe they can make their relationship work.

However, January can also be the month when you save your marriage. Most couples stay together before Christmas for the children, however this can be a great reason to try and give your marriage another chance to stick.

Christmas also exasperates any problems you may have, with couples often spending a lot of time together, with other family members as well. Depending on your relationship with your family, this might be a stressful environment, and could lead to more pressures on your relationship. Some advice suggests taking yourself away from this situation, think about how your usual day to day routine is and see if the problems caused are due to the holiday season, rather than falling out of love with your partner.

There are many reasons why marriages can break down; from money issues, stress at work and lack of quality time together. Christmas, as we have already mentioned, can place further emphasis on the worries of money or stress at work. Again, take your time to step back and work out whether issues are really serious, or it is just a heightened awareness of any issues caused by a festive period which has led to more frequent disagreements.
