Michael joined Grahame Stowe Bateson as a trainee solicitor in 1991, having previously worked as a social worker in Sheffield, London and Edinburgh for 10 years. He qualified in 1993 and became a partner in 1998.

Michael specialises in all aspects of Family Law, particularly Children Act matters, divorce and matrimonial finance and he represents both publicly funded and private clients. He is also a member of the Law Society's Mental Health Review Tribunal Panel and regularly represents detained clients at tribunals.

He is a member of the Law Society Mental Health Panel and is the Supervisor across Graham Stowe Bateson for all mental health matters. He regularly represents Clients at Mental Health Tribunals and occasionally lectures on Mental Health Law. He is also an experienced Family Law Practitioner and heads up the family department at the Harrogate Office.
